Our Hiring Process – Understanding How We Hire

Here is a brief explanation of our process:
 
When a position becomes available at Hugh Helmly Construction, Inc. we typically list the position on our website and collect resumes from applicants.
 
If your skills and experience are found to match an available position, a Human Resource Associate may contact you. In addition, all resumes submitted are stored in a database for future reference. If you are contacted by an associate, you will be asked to initially conduct a phone interview. After your initial phone interview, depending upon the nature of the position, you may be asked to attend a series of face-to-face interviews.
 
We place significant importance upon searching for the candidate that is the right fit for each position. Therefore, you should expect the application and interview process to span a period of at least 3 weeks, and in some cases longer. During the interview process we believe that it is equally important for you to assess whether or not Hugh Helmly Construction, Inc. is the right fit for you. For example, do you feel you can work with those you interviewed with, will you be comfortable with the commute, are the duties and tasks exciting to you, do you feel over or under qualified, etc.?
 
If we invite you to a face-to-face interview, please come prepared with a summary of what you know about us, a clean copy of your resume, a record of your compensation history, a list of professional references whom we may contact and any questions you have for your interviewer. In addition, please bring the completed Application for Employment on the day of your interview. A Human Resource associate will mail you an interview packet prior to your interview.
 
All candidates are subject to employment verification, education verification, and criminal background checks prior to employment. In addition, some positions require a credit check, DMV check, and/or pre-employment assessments/tests. These checks can take from several days to a week or more to complete.
 
The important thing for you to remember is that the hiring process will take some time. However, we’re sure you will agree that this is time well spent.
